Well just bought a 1984 500sec euro amg with cloth seats if you can believe that and also it does not have automatic climate control but it does have individual temp controls. Could some one please confirm if that is normal for some euro sec cars the vin is wdb12604412007325.
Runs great no issues thank God but the front seats need to be recovered and the center consul and dash wood also needs to be replaced or sent out to be refurbished other than that the body is straight paint is white and in decent condition sunroof works and the rear windshield is not foggy. The car has an AMG badge and front side and rear spoilers oh and also amg floor mats. Just got it so I haven't had time to check it out thoroughly yet but as soon as I get a close to warm day I'll be out there and assessing the car.
Any thoughts you good gentlemen might have out there would be greatly appreciated and please help me decode the vin if possible.
Thanking you all in advance for your help in this matter.
Gogi.

Congratulations and Welcome.
The manual climate controls are less of a headache.
To find your way around the forum archive etc, please make sure to read the 'New members ....' announcement / tutorial sticky on top.
Cheers

Automatic Climate Control was an option for Euros. Some have it (like mine) but others have the manual climate control like your car. I've read here on the forums that the manual version is easier to work with, although I don't have any experience with them.

Let's see some photos of the beast.

+1 on the above, the semi automatic climate system was standard in Europe. It has the advantage of dual zone temperature control, and for some reason with this system you also get heat in the rear seat centre vent whereas the other system only does cool air there. I've always thought that was a bit odd.
I really like it and it's much more reliable - doesn't usually need any attention apart from the usual mono valve, which becomes a duo valve in this system.

When you say cloth seats do you mean velour? I thought the coupes only came with velour, leather or alcantara.

Basically in Europe everything was to order and the were no set options, although as you went up the range more things were included in the price.

Here's the actual data card from EPC; you'll need to reference the .pdf that has all the MB code designations, as EPC displays their current definitions as codes have been recycled over the years.

Thanks for the response guys. The interior is indeed velour, the back seats are fine but I want to replace the front velour myself but haven't had much luck finding the new coverings. Any help in that regard would be great. Also the belt presenters both don't work possibly a fuse? Haven't had a chance to check yet it's too cold in New Jersey. The right rear window is not working at all I don't know if it has it's own fuse and the right fronts inop. Due to the glass being detached from the regulator as I can hear it moving up and down with the switch. I ordered the missing seats switch knobs for both sides as they were all missing. I've repaired a rear detached window in my ex 500sel but am not sure if it's the same setup in a sec. So please advise and thanks again to all for the quick response.
Happy Holidays to one and all.

The covers may even be available from the dealer, but £££..

The belt presenters I think it's most often just the relay, if so is a straight plug in fix. Junk yard for the relay?

The rear window could be just stuck but you'll have to have a fiddle. Instructions for removing that rear interior panel are here on the forum but access isn't great even when it's removed.

The front window will be the little plastic piece broken, as they do.

Happy fixing :)

I'm looking for already made up front velour seat coverings so I can remove originals and recover the seats. Who knows maybe someone out there has a pair of blue velour euro front seats for a 1984 500sec euro. One can only hope otherwise I will make a trip to the upholstery shop and see what they have to offer.
