Just bought a week ago 2000 e55 It was problem with motor some time it lose the power, so I go to the shop and change: MAF, spark plug, fuel filter and oil change, after all this I start testing the car hard. The problem with motor gone but transmission starts shifting on high rpm (2500-3000) on regular driving, I try to shift manually its works. I contact my friend hi has MB computer we connect it and there was no fault code the motor and tranny works good. Is any one here some thing about this problem? Also car has 150k miles.

veprbest,

Congrats on your purchase. Just a few questions;

1. What did your PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) by a dealer or qualified indy show?
2. Any records on tranny services? You should be close to or have had your third service by 150k.
3. Did you replace the plug wires also?
4. Air filter change?

There are a number of other questions but this would be a good start. You can try the search function for maintenance items to look for and/or DIY.

Good luck.

I change only spark plug not a wire not air filters. The only thing I put back old plugs test drive it once was good then latter same thing it was maybe old plug was Bosch super plus and I put denso iridium. Today I change old maf when start motor was running rough for few second after I test drive it everything fine. Hope I need original plugs from MB dealer. Do I have to change oil and a filter on tranny or better not? I check the air filter they looks fine or better change them? I don't have any record for this car I purchase it AS/IS

I would strongly recommend:

1) replace the tranny connector plug right away, which is a $20 and under dealer part, and report back how much fluid you find there when replacing that plug

2) honestly, at that mileage you need to research and go forward with a tranny service - either pan/drop/refill or the full fill, with the original MB fluid for 722.65 (NOT the new MB fluid).

3) there are a LOT of MAF's and a lots of scams with MAF - just so you know for yourself for future reference, where was the replacement MAF bought from and what price did you pay ?

4) Your replacement plugs are "OK", actually the W210 E55 works best with the stock plugs and their current equivalent, you really don't pick up anything extra on top by "upgrading" plugs.

5) Your airbox sucks a LOT of air, when you get the next chancer replace the air filters with the OE Mann filters (takes 2) this will also kerp that new MAF clean.

Good luck - and stay away from the vodka when you drive your E55.

Just so you know your MAF "new" is actually a China made sensor, and the qualit on these the best you can hope for is a few months and many fail before then, some don't even work well from he start.

So you know next time you need to consider MAF replacement, the genuine Bosch MAF can be bought, correct genuine part and no tricks, free UPS surface, anything less is short term at best:

I did change on old maf last night and test drive it for 4 hour everything was perfect, so I don't know what was the problem with the motor maybe reset ecu, and a tranny new sensor for $80 wich is no good. Try to return it back.
