No kidding Albert, I must agree with you here as it looks like a nightmare IMHO. :eek:

Current bid is $20,450.00 USD, plus will obviously require massive restoration inside and out.

I should park my SL in the backyard, let it rot away for the next few decades then sell it for 20K.

Oh yes a nightmare ,but I must say it ought to be saved as one of the most beautiful cars ever built, its an interesting thought to put an sl away and do nothing to it as a lot of classic wrecks seem to make at least half the restored price :D

This is WAY too much for a car in that condition...

I would love to own a 190SL though...

id agree bayhas. however if you have 22k to blow it buys you in. and for that its worth grabbing it. without restoring it you still techniquely own a legend of a car. then you have to restore it. :p but despite its condition its worth it for 22k~ because like i said you then own it. and it will go up in value. and you can enjoy it. even if it is just looking. :D

i figured they would be more. in that case its not worth it. i figured it would be in the ball park of 50k or more

depending on originality and shape...

factory looking ones go as high as 80 or more...

but for all intensive purposes/ riding in style on a weekend with spouse/GF in style, without being super duper anal, a 30K one will do an awesome job...

Phil Here. I don't even like the shape of the Mercedes 190 SL, It is a sad looking automobile. I would write a summons for littering and place it under It's wiper blade. Our R129's are far superior in looks. You would have to pay me to take that car away.

Now lets have a 300 SL, That would be a worth while project...

Beholder Beauty?

Phil Here. Well Muscle, Beauty must be in the eye of the beholder? I only see a very clean 190 SL car with a horrid shaped body. And whats with those spoiler wings over the wheel wells? again, not my cup of tea.

Give me a 230,250 and 280 SL to restore. those cars are very pleasing to the eye, I have had all three of them. I'll also take the early 350,450 SL without the horrid big black bumpers..................... super looking autos'
