Whats the story with these, why are there so many of them? And are they real AMGs?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Fwiw..

..I ended up with a home-market SEC by way of the land of the rising sun, LHD, option 822...they get progressively pricey to reinsure, then get exported. RHD goes to NZ and Oz ( a lovely country once it's finished btw), some wash up here on the left coast.

All I've seen, low kms, zero rust, appear to have been coddled. Good luck finding a service history.

My SEC has no JDM markings, identical to what you might have found in Stuttgart...others have JDM markings, other oddness...

Worth doing compared to a NA spec car IMHO..

I understand the Japanese like to coddle their odometers, to the point of fudging.

If the pre merger builds were done by the authorized AMG Japan dealer/franchisee then they are as authentic as anything built by other AMG global dealers.

Japan seemed to hang on longer then other dealers with builds unlike any other..
Facelift C124 widebodies, 400E AMG and other unusual variants..
