Beautiful car, w124202! That's my favorite color for W124s. Good luck with her!

And MercBee, in 1994 W124s had slightly updated bodies, mainly the front (headlights, grille, etc.).

Thanks guys. Yeah the wheels r sort of narrow and I am thinking about getting monos. I know they are too common but they are the best looking wheels for w124's. Right now i'm thinking about switching the wheels from my c230k. They are much deeper than this.

That's a nice color!

BTW, regarding wheels...

I think my 124 handled better (felt nimbler) and accelerated quicker w/ the smaller 15s than it does now with the 17s. However, the 17s do look sharp...

That is a very nice 1995 Special Edition, like mine, except that mine is azure blue with a parchment interior. You have the wheels, the stainless thresholds, and I suppose you must also have the trunk-mounted CD changer and the hands-free analog phone. I use my phone, even though everyone has gone digital. I just couldn’t live with the idea that something didn’t work in my car, so I am analog. It works fine in my area and it worked fine when I drove to New York. I like the hands-free functionality and the way the phone confirms selected number choices by saying “residence, “office, etc. My talking speakerphone is always a big hit when others are in the car.

I agree about the narrow look of the original wheels. I prefer the look of my 16 wheels, which are 16 x 7.5 ET37 instead of 15 x 6.5 ET44. The style of the original Special Edition wheels is nice, but they look too tucked under the car when I switch to my winter tires. Last year I didn’t bother to install the winter wheel and tire combo, because I just couldn’t stand to part with the look of my AMG wheels.

As for the perfect offset on a set of 7.5’ wide wheels, I think ET42 would allow you to fit the widest tires possible. You might be able to use 215/55/16 or even 225/50/16 tires, instead of 205/55/16 tires, if you can find ET42 instead of ET37. If you go with 17 x 7.5 wheels, then the higher offset might allow you to run 225/45/17 tires and you should definitely be safe with 215/45/17 tires.

A panoramic view of my 1995 E320.

Thanks ksing44. I used to have a exact one like your back in asia. But it was E220 with 5spd. Anyway I really like your wheels. Thats the best size . You don't loose ride comfort and handling is better. I 'm gonna have to ask you about the phone. How do u hook it up? Would u mind if I ask how much u paid for those wheels? I am thinking about getting one soon.

Thanks,
Han

Nice car! Mine is exactly the same, Moonstone Grey metallic over ash leather. My '95 is not a Special Edition so I didn't get those wheels or phone. Also, my rear windows are not tinted. Maybe Canada didn't get the Special Edition.

I love the colour, doesn't show dust too bad and is a very popular colour right now among many manufacturers. There actually is one more just like mine in my city! Have fun.

The phone was activated by Verizon. I think they may be the only company that still has analogue, although I am not really sure about that. The only issue was getting the access code to get into the phone and reprogram it. There is a special device that can get into the phone and it took a while to find an installer that had the ancient device. The guys at Verizon were the ones that found it, although it took a couple of tries. The first place I drove to had the thing, but some part was missing and it wouldn’t clear the codes. The second place had all of the pieces for the device and it only took a minute to get everything straightened out.

Regarding the wheels, my 16 AMG Monblock Aero I wheels were $400.00 each, but they were discontinued. I am not sure if you can get 16 AMG Monoblock II wheels. I think there is just a much bigger market for the 17 wheels, even though I agree that the 16 wheels are a good compromise between improved handling and comfort. After all, a comfortable ride is part of the joy about driving our cars and I don’t think they are ever going to be as agile as an M3.
