the xenforo thing was inevitable. vBulletin is just add-on after add-on and phpbb is painful to migrate, update or exit.

layout could use some improvements and the colour scheme sucks bollox, but since I'm not paying for the xenforo license... :D

I assume the new interface is getting at least a little better over time. I decided to take a minute to test the egv107. The first link:

is:
and it doesn't work.

But then I googled the thread, and got the working page for the thread:

It seems that in this situation, they have:
  • changed "forums" directory to "threads"
  • eliminated the name of the forum in the path
  • changed the name of the page from the thread number and some interestingly chosen name & ".html" to the thread title & .<thread number>/
There's got to be a way for VS to fix all the links.

I've noticed that if you click on the link enough times it starts to work... but only for a little while. You either get the thread your after or you get the Oops!

Close - don't include the space after the "site:"

Code:
site:https://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/ alternator 450sl
Thanks A and The F - Vast improvement but I hope the powers that be straighten out the search functions as your solution is a real pain in the *** to enter.

Once I have entered it a few times Chrome remembers and I just have to type 'si' for the whole thing to appear in the list of suggestions. Also you could put it in a text file on your desktop that you can open and copy and paste.

If you want to get really fancy, you can add it as a SearchEngine in Chrome.
Settings->Search Engines->Manage Search Engines->Add
Code:
Name: BenzWorld R107 Search
Keyword: bw
URL: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.benzworld.org%2Fforums%2Fr-c107-sl-slc-class%2F+%s
Then you can just type "bw alternator" in the address bar.

That is slick! Works great. Thanks for the tip! Andy

Well done Fonzi! - Seems you have discovered why so many EGv107 links do not work, even although they are just linking to other threads in the R/C107 forum. They could no doubt fix this, but will they and if so, when?
