Hal many many thanks for your concerns. RKH is right. The quake is terrible with more than 100 causalities up to now and the number is increasing and the people that lost their houses are at least 50,000. I am at least 800 KMs away from the earthquake and thanks God we didn't even feel it so we are as safe as we can be here. Rome that is 100 miles away from the quake area could feel it because it was very big.
If you want to have an idea CNN and BBC and youtube have vids (I checked already) but I must tell you images are very sad and touching.
God bless all those people dead or alive that are going thru this tragedy.
In this very moment they just found some people alive under the collapsed houses but it's raining making all the rescue operations harder and more difficult.
Gentlemen I'm touched by your concerns about me. Very.

I just love this big family :D.

Cheers.

What? I am just making sure I will not be left with the bill for your car on the 26th !! :D (must book them tomorrow...)

Seriously, glad you are Ok. Knew you were nearer Milan, but you might have been down there for the weekend. A buddy of mine went to Rome for the weekend and says the mood is pretty awful.

Lol Hal don't worry I'd put that bill in my will just in case ;).

But seriously I've been watching a live tv program for about 4 hours on tv while I'm on the forum about the quake and the situation is terrible both for the casualties that are a hundred at least and for the damages that are enormous with whole villages completely destroyed.
It's a sad sad tragedy :(.

Cheers.

I think Mick should be OK as he is in Northern Italy and the Earth quake was in Central part of Italy.

I was thinking the same thing RKH when I saw the news report last night on my Yahoo homepage.

Believe it or not Mick, the first thing I did after reading the report was I pulled up a map of Italy to see excactly how far up north Milan is located. Then I said to myself, he must be alright since the quake was isolated in the centeral region, plus when I first read the report there were no reported casualties at that time.

My sincere condolences to all families and individuals caught in this horrible tragedy.

Sincerely,

per300 in Brindisi you should be totally safe since the quake is pretty far from there so you are not at risk. Casualties are increasing hour by hour unfortunately and the count is more than 150 from the news this morning unfortunately.
As I said the only thing we felt here is sadness from what we see from the news reports because the quake is too far from us for now. I just hope it doesn't happen like in 2002 when I actually saw my walls shake for a earthquake even if it wasn't that strong and we suffered no damages at all but you know it's not fun and fellow members from California (San Francisco and Los Angeles areas especially) know what I'm talkign about.

Cheers.

Ken, 250 casualties and counting as the ground there keeps on shaking and sometimes hard.
Madonna (the singer) that has heritage in that area donated $ 500,000.00 and the news seems already confirmed too.
Let's just hope the quake settles and finishes because buildings are still collapsing theer even today. Thanks God now they should be empty.

God bless them for real.

Cheers.

This is a tragedy of epic proportions. We are still counting dead bodies, collapsed and damaged buildings, homeless people, and strong aftershock quakes.
Tomorrow will be the day of national mourning and of the state funerals of all the victims with the Bishop of L'Aquila in L'Aquila itself.
I only have words of prise for all the rescuers, for all the firefighters, for all the volounteers that are working very hard there and for all the politics of our government (Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi especially) that were and are fast and hard working to try to solve all the problems all the people there have now and will have in the future hoping the earth will stop shaking at last..

Cheers.

I just saw Berlusconis comment about tent picnic (!), for homeless.
Hes a confusing man, i dont know what to think about him:confused:
Maybe its his kind of humor....
He is a brilliant man in every respect, a man that likes to tell jokes and usually a nice man. But extremely capable either as a businessman or politician and he's one of the very few politicians especially in Italy that works instead of talking only. And that makes a huge difference especially in a sad situation as this is.

Cheers.

Yes, i think Berlusconi has clearly proved that he is talented politician and businessman. Maybe he is just many times misunderstood.
And i like his dark humor;)
One time he dissed finnish food:D
I was in Rome couple of years ago.
You`ve got unbelievable great city there:thumbsup:

I know this is probably not the proper place even if actually the subject of his threat is the earthquake in Italy but since today it's Italy most sad day in a lot of time I wanted to share, with all of you, the vids of the funeral of the death people in the quake.
I'm sorry if this might annoy someone but I feel it's right...
Today it was the first time I saw a politician in tears for a very long time. It was Silvio Berlusconi, our Italian Prime Minister.

God bless their souls.

Guys I'm sorry to bother you all again with Italian problems but I wanted to tell you all that 2 hours ago another strong earthquake (4.9 Richter scale) shook the ground in Abruzzo.

Cheers.
