I changed oil last weekend and thought it was the right time to replace the pressure sender unit. The needle on oil pressure gauge has been pegged at 3 and despite the new unit, it still is pegged at 3. Is it the wires or is it the dash gauge? What should I look for?

Disconnect the wire from the sender unit. If the indicator is still pegged with the transmitter disconnected, then it's a short in the wire. I'd check this before tinkering around with the dash & the gauge.
