Found this tucked into my mirror last week in Queens... Had just washed the car (an unfortunate rarity due to city life & street parking), so I guess it was getting a bit more attention than usual. How often does this happen to y'all?

A Fedex delivery guy once asked me if I wanted to sell my 560SEL to him. I told him no because I just got the car from my family. It was my mother's car. Now she passed away last Nov. I am glad I didn't sell it. Although it crossed my mind before.

There are a few C126's on our street, but more a rarity nowadays - out of interest, which mechanic do you use? I use Gene German Car.

I had that happen to me two days after I brought the car home from Bruce's. The UPS man delivered a package, and told me he would give me a thousand dollars more than I paid for it.... I still have it!

about a week after i bought mine for $7,000, barman at local pub offered me $18,000 for it (later learned he was looking for same make/model and was quoted $20,000 from dealer)

i didn't even think twice about his offer, , , firm NO! ! !

Had a woman stop by when I was out working on another car and ask me if it was for sale and another time, an elderly gentleman came up to the house. We ended up sitting down for a while and chatting about cars. Both times, it was a no on selling from me.

Yeah, it's rare to see them on the streets here - I'm in Greenpoint and there's 3 or 4 around the neighborhood I think.

I am still loyal to Ditmire in South Jersey - grew up down there and swap it out for the SL for the season, so it gets plenty of attention then. For inspections I just go to Silver Star in Queens - so far so good (it's up in a few weeks...) and as long as it keeps passing, I haven't had to get any work done in the city. I'll keep Gene in mind - thanks for the rec.

No way! I think I've seen your SEC down by West St. I'm over by McGolrick park on Sutton - and I think another SEC lives near Greenpoint Ave on Eckford or thereabouts... way too obsessed, eh?
