It's in the mid 40's today.

I have maybe 2 hours of daylight left.

I haven't put the hard top on this season.

I have visitors, one of which is capable of helping me put it on.

I like how it looks in the Winter when I put the hard top on.

Should I?

But the winter has been so mild, I might want to drop the top on a 50ish day in the next couple of months. Last year, I took the top off by myself (scratchy scratchy) and I want it all. Instant gratification.

No, No, No

No!!!!!!!!!
The proper place for the top is hanging from the rafters in your garage.

I had mine on last year and it was dumb, dumb, dumb. The car never goes out when the weather is sucky and I only take the SL out for exercise every week and really don't go anywhere, so I can live with the noise from the soft top. The hard top looks good, but not worth all the work.

Then, when it's up, the soft top is languishing in it's bin, shrinking millimeter at a time, slowly molding the plastic windows into a distorted shape to be frozen in place.

Nope, leave it off.

I'm not convinced yet.

I still have 15 minutes of light and the help is in the back yard right now!

And I don't have a garage yet. It's in SWMBO's container.

I figure I'm down to about 6-7 weeks before my hard top comes off for the year. We're still getting cold days. We've had one or two that made me wish I could drop the top, but since I'm often out in the evening and the temp drops rapidly, I decided it wasn't worth the risk of scratching the paint when I put the top on or took it off.
