because the original chip is used. It has the same stamped #, vin codes in it, etc. This is why it is stealth. For all intensive purposes, when the dealer hooks up their diagnostic laptop, they can't tell.<br> 2. You can't remove it because the newer chips are soldered on, not eprom type that pop in and out. <br> 3. If your chip is damaged, they will burn the maps onto another $20 chip. They download the existing program on your chip as a backup, in case you want it back to stock. Re: ECU, I haven't heard of ECU damage due to chip reprogramming.<br> <br> I had upsoluted my E430SE and I'm not worried about it. If something happens that I feel the dealer would fool with the ECU, like pinging, engine backfire, etc., I'd have upsolute reburn my stock program onto the chip first. But for A or B service, no way will it show on the laptop.
