Wasn't overly excited with the G stuff but the Chica Rakata video was quite interesting!

Well I hope this video doesn’t fall in the hands of any Landy or J33P fan because apart from the lovely lady the 1st and 3rd clips are embarrassing for the G .

Give me a break! That would be an idiotic solution to manage a little snow here and there. Maybe just a little better tires and some experience in driving?

Too true! The driving skill is a definitive on and the Chain issue is basically to cover-up the idiocy of getting stuck in a few mm snow on level ground but as stated before "dum gebohren, nichts dazu gelernt und das noch vergessen![B)][B)][B)]

The owner of that 300 GE is a member of the newly established Spanish GWagen Owners' Club.

Apart from being a truly nice off-roading machine, this particular G has a remarkable story. It was bought new by the then Socialist government of Felipe González to entertain state visits at the Doñana National Park in Cádiz (near the Portuguese border in Southern Spain). It's a 1990 300 GE LWB, extremely basic (no ABS or electric windows, but at least it has the almost obligatory (for Southern Spain) aircon.

In that very G very important arses such as Helmut Kohl's have sat. Subsequent to its sale to private hands, it was fitted with a body-lift, the dog-leg 5-speed manual gearbox from a 300E 24v (W124), 3-piece alloys by Braid and 35" diameter tyres.

Well, let me put it this way... investing in snow chains is Spain would be like investing in the very expensive MB aircon in Finland...

Hi everyone, I´m the owner and "underskilled" driver of that G.

I really love your comments about my driving skills
[B)][B)]but I think that comparing my new GoodYear Wrangler MTR´s with bald yoko geos is too much ...

The chains were at the back of the car during the whole day ... driving with them is quite boring, specially when the problem is the amount of heavy wet snow not a lack of traction in the car.

Notice that the corners are not the same in Jeep and Toyota Videos than in G video, the only one that tried to pass that corner was the G, and I did it (Second attempt).

And finally, I couldn´t invest in better thread cause I spent all my money cleaning the seats trying to eliminate Mr Kohl and Mr Gonzalez smell [:D][:D]

Nice to hear about you and hope we will keep in touch

hehe, i like the international connections i see over here, someone posts a random pic off the 'net, then next thing you know the person concerned shows up on the 'board! truly amazing how one squared-off vault can bring us all together.

ps. it is not too embarrasing to say you were just having fun..after all that is the attraction of off-roading!

Ouuttsss... Now that I look at it again, you really do seem to have MTR's under there. Now, these MTR's really should do better in that snow, but also admittedly one rarely does capture the difficulty of the conditions on film.

And you really shouldn't need chains...ever... I never do (I don't even have any) and I run MTR's mainly too. However, I do have airconditioning in my cars (except the G) and also in my house. For a short time during the summer these are truly nice to have even here.

Ou, and if these pictures are from the same place as the videos, the videos really did not show the amount of snow properly.

That's the right spirt! Well done Pedro!

Just get the story to the propper perspective.

BTW we in SA do not have "Snow", only high up in the mountain and for a period of a few hours and about 1 meter .... in width, but we have the black snot ... clay-mud, there is just no grip and without chains one can slip off the mountain face... not a good sport to do!

Have fun with your G and congrats on your G-Club.

Yeah, like having an outdoors swimming pool in the UK: if it's heated you are a snob 'cause it costs as much to heat it as the budget of a mid-sized country and if it isn't then you are a snob cause you never use it and just have it to keep up with the Joneses

The front bumper is an AFN bumper (Portuguese brand) the winch is a come up 9000 and the plug at the top of the grill is for the winch remote control.

As you can see in this pic the rear winch control plug is even in a higher place ... just below the left working light
