Me again! I'm batting 1000 on finding stuff broken, missing or loose.

This valve was floating around loose when I removed the radiator overflow tank. The small bracket on it looks like it should be attached to the tank mounting bracket. The manual (North American) shows different colored vac wires. One vac line ( looks red but may be purple, yellow and clear)goes to the distributor and the other ( yellow and clear) goes somewhere down under the left valve cover. Any help greatly appreciated.

yep that is a switch over valve, on my 76 450 its a gold colour, one line to the distributor as you have pictured the other line connects to a port on the throttle body (well it does on mine anyway) on my car it only energizes allowing vacuum to retard the timing when the a/c is turned on, I'd assume it does the same on your car although maybe some other 380 owner can chime to confirm if this is the the only time it actuates on your car.
