Hello. Someone I know is trying to sell a 'Becker Corona'. I've not personally seen it and doing a google search yields surprisingly few results on the model.

Are the few results (including 2 from this website) actually people misreading the script lettering for 'Europa'? Just a thought. Any info appreciated.

I think not. There's a pretty detailed, 61-year history of the Becker line here.

Monte Carlo, Cascade, and Cascade Pro, yes--but I found no mention of a model named anything close to Corona.

(Now there is a Becker Mexico. And a Mexican, so-called "beer" by that name. But no radio, as far as I can tell).

Good road,

Thanks for your reply. Good detective work. When I said to the fellow that I'd never heard of a 'Becker Corona' his reaction was 'good, must be rare. I'll sell it for even more'. Will have to get back to him and destroy his dreams.

Cheers
Ben

That's delightfully embarrassing! I was looking up my 1971 SL280's gorgeous Becker 'Corona' and came across this page. Once misreading Europa was mentioned, well - yes, guilty here too! Gosh!

Thanks so much, wouldn't have had much luck searching for a Corona...(blushing).

Dont know if the link will show up, but here is my 'Corona' - and of course, as soon as Europa was mention its OBVIOUS... Laughing at self, and felt someone else may as well have a minor giggle at my expense too ;)

Becker Europa also had a optional band switch unit for SW listening , but doubt if it was offered as a option in US models .
