I was 26 when I got my 500SEL. Wanted this car for a while.
I could've had a new S55 if I wanted to, but I wanted to have a W140 for a long time, so I got one.
I never cared for what people think, what they see.
I like to enjoy my cars,
Speed, HP, Stability, and a good control at all speeds. I found it in my 500 SEL, a good car,
but, there are other cars to explore.
S55, BMW 745i Sport, M5, E55.
So many cars, so little time.

You are correct. The old Mercedes 500E, and 94-96 Chevy Impala SS were both sedan sleepers.... If you were to get an S55, or E55, or M5, I would remove all AMG and/or M power badges (Except rims of course) to make it a true sleeper. Maybe even badge it down to S430, or E320, or even 525i
I am not sure about removing badges, but, My last employer(boss) had a 2000 540i-Sport BMW-6-speed, that car was amazing, such a great car all around. We went looking for a replacement for that car, and after driving a 2000 M5 (same car as 540 plus 120HP), he went with a 2002 E500. Loves the car to this day.
I like special cars, 1979 450sel 6.9. I would love to own as a weekend car.
But in the future, I can see a S55(blown), M5)6-speed) 745i Sport. I am not sure about the Jag, but I am sure I will always have fun cars that can do things I want them to do and then some.

I get the "when do you have to take it back?" every now and then... and i am like take what back? the answer is "daddy's car!"
i guess it depends on what i am wearing, if i am in buisness wear, the car does fit, but in the evening when i put a pair of baggies or shorts on... its a different story... lol

My proffession is in sales so during the week im dressed up and on the weekends I go to foxwoods and usually am in jeans and shirt sneakers, no matter how I am dressed I always get treated with more respect from other motorists and believe it or not the police as well. It seams like I get special attention or something cause I have a w140. Also I remember when I had my 1990 300sel It was the same thing respect respect respect. Also when ever I have a passenger in the car they always comment at how everybody is staring the car down, I am immune I guess I just dont notice it anymore. To give an idea I have 1996 s320 (rebadged from prev owner as s500) with 18inch chrome amg oem monoblock II, Car is white with An interior that can only me explained as orangish brownish rustish color im sure you mb fans know the color, anyway I also have 2 6inch tv's in the headrest and painted the 2 tone to be all white, also put in crystal clear headlights and clear corners, also rear taillights updated to euro cryslel clear. but gonna retire this bably really want the coupe.. plus I put on 100k miles on it and time to upgrade. I might keep this one as my commuter car
