I don't think anything compares to how Canberra got destroyed...

I have a blue 96 sl280 and what i believe is a silver 94 cl600. The cl is often referred to as a 600 sec. I havn't finished putting it together yet and find parts or info impossible to find.I almost fell over backwards when i saw one on this Japanese site which may be it as this is where i bought it from. Originally registered in Italy, the car has all AMG options and is bullet proof! The car is identical including the 18" AMG hoops and is on the bottom left

I havent fitted it to my Benz. We dont get much sunshine in the UK.

I've seen it advertised in their catalogue, I'll scan the B&W image for you. Ive also seen it in the flesh in their Wembley showroom. It looks good, obviously not as neat as the original MB part, but neat enough. Its fully electric operated by an electric window style rocker switch. The blind is in Grey and the roller enclosure (like a bar that sits on your rear parcel shelf) is black. There is a motor protruding in the centre.

I am not too sure whether this gets in the way of the medical kit. ECP will be able to advise.

But for £50 is only a fraction of the cost of the MB part. If its not to your liking, you can easily sell it on for a profit

The oem sunblind in mine is connected to the wiring loom under the parcel shelf and the rocker switch is in the center console so with a bit of luck there will be wiring provisions for it because they were available as an option.

Re: Great!the only confusion i have is how will i install it? Like the wiring and stuff...wh

If I recall correctly, There are only two wires. One 0v ground and one +12v. The mechanism is independant of the rest of the wiring on the car so shouldnt be a problem.

The switch supplied does not match the rest of the car. I would suggest that you to the dealer or a breakers yard and pick an original one that will match the rest on the dashboard.

A brand new MB sunblind switch should cost no more than £20 (about £30)

If you look in your owners MB handbook it shows where the switch is mounted. Its next to the hazard light and central locking buttons. If you remove the wood panel and place in in a high speed fixed bench drill, you should be able to drill out four neat holes and each corner and then use a wire jigsaw to make the holes meet. If you arent confident enough to do this, I would suggest that you fix it out of sight under the armrest inside the centre box. You can buy a cheap enclosure from radio shack and fix it to the box with taped velcro or some small self tapping screws. If you decide on this 'out of sight' option, you dont have to shell out on buying a benz switch

Thanks for the offer, I will let you know if I ever need anything. I'll post a scan of the sunblind on Saturday.......stay tuned[:)]

when i got my driving liscence i had to drive for 6 extra months and guess what was i driving? it was my moms honda odyssy or how ever it's spelt after that i bought my 1st car a 2005 S350 which i bought on requets of my wife and it was used on my wedding day i still own it... people kept on asking me from where did i get the money and that i should've bought a nissan maxima or altima and those cheap cars.... even though i have my car i wanna play around with it i wanna upgrade the engin and stuff well it shall be done soon.. i wonder if it's possible to fix a super charge or a turbo engin to my car.. it would be fun after fixing extra dvd players to my back of my head rest and fixing those AMG kits it bet it would be wonderful..
I was 18 in 1998 and purchased my 1st a creampuff 1990 300sel champane on champane interior, and like you I always was teased i was driving my daddys car or grandpas car.. but the real case was is I worked my ass off to get the car, I was ripped off from the stealer, lets just say with interest the car cost me 42000 dollars young and stupid and signed with a 22 percent interest plust over paid for the car by 5k but I bought it right from the mercedes benz lot, anyway sad store I had nothing but problems with the engine which i later found out that this was common problem with the 300sel and I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was fine, make a long story short I ended up taking a huge loss after 4 years of ownership. Next Mercedes 2002 w140 1996 ooooh the next level. with 18 inch amg mono's white on dark tan interior.. 2006 w140 has seen better days starting to fall apart seems like everything is breaking on it need to upgrade to a 99 s500 low miles........

>I was 21 in 2000 and purchased my first 1989 560SEL black on black. Everyone laughed at me because for the amount i paid i can get a pretty nice and new Civic... well... just wanna say...there's something money cant buy, I am so happy that I bought the 126..

after a few years, i have done my grad school in US and have to move back to Hong Kong. as you can see from my picture now I am driving a S600.. However, if I still can find a good condition 560, esp a 560SEC, i will definitly get one. I just miss the car.

W220... sorry.....
I'm currently 16, and the middle child, so my older brother, who is 18 at the moment, is the current owner of the car; a 1994 Mercedes-Benz S320. My dad owned it first, since about 1996 and he bought it used. He switched over to it from a lincoln town car and he said he'll never go back. He drove the benz for about 8 1/2 years and at that point he was looking into a smaller car while staying in the benz area. He went with a 2005 E500 4MATIC, but didn't know what to do with his S class. Me, being an automotive enthusiast, begged him not to sell it. He said he didn't want it to just sit in the driveway and die so i suggested giving it to my older brother as a first car. My dad wasn't to keen on the idea at first but after realizing it was a big safe reliable car with only an I6 which would conserve gas somewhat, he decided to do it. At this point the car had a little over 190,000 miles on it and was still going strong. The age of the car did start to show up its first year sitting outside under a cover as a few things began to break but we took care of the car until my brother finished his time with his permit and got his license. As a birthday gift my mom wanted to get him something that would look nice on the car (as if the car itself wasnt nice enough already!). I told her to go with new wheels and I helped her pick out a set of chrome 18" ASA ST-4's which look amazing and are now used as spring/summer wheels while the stock ones are used as winter wheels. As soon as word got out that my brother, a fresh young driver, was toolin around in a big bad benz, the mixed reactions came out. most people thought it was awesome, other people began reffering to our family as rich, others were jealous, and others just didnt care. it survived its first year in the senior lot this past school year and it was fine. people admired it and my brother and i had a thousand new friends. we were now known as "the kids with the benz on chrome rims" haha. to this day, we are recognized wherever we go because we own one of maybe 3 W140s in our area, and ours is the only one on chrome. Overall people have come to accept it and they love the car. Now that my brother is off to Pittsburgh University (congrats to him) the car will now sit in the driveway for a year again as I begin to learn to drive on the SUV with my permit which I will be recieving in late July. I cant wait to inherit the benz and I have always thought, and still do think it is an amazing machine. I'd never trade it for anything. It's even survived both of my brothers accidents haha. the first one being on his first day with his license haha and the second somewhere later on. the second one almost killed it, but it prevailed. it is for this reason it has earned the name "the tank". Which went perfectly with my brothers nickname "Frank the tank" haha. So yes, at age 17 my brother was the rightful owner, and now that i am 16, once i recieve my permit She will be mine and I'll cherish every minute of it. The bose sound system still outplays our neighbors Audiobahn subwoofers he put in the trunk of his VW :p. So thats my story, hope you all enjoyed it..if you took the time to read it all haha.

one last thing. alot of you seem to be mixed up with the term ricer or rice. it does not refer to a japanese car or anything like that. rice can be a car from any country. rice is a car that has been badly modified. if you go to www.urbandictionary.com and type in ricer, youll get plenty of helpful definitions. a honda is not rice. a honda with a wing that could act as an ironing board, a massive non-functional body kit and type-R is rice.

I'm almost 26 and just took full custody of a 96 S420. It's been in my family a few years. We got it with 47,000 miles on it. My Mom really didn't need to be driving such a large car so my Dad bought her a 2002 540i for her birthday last year. I had a troublesome 2001 SLK320 that I traded in on an 04 330Ci. I recently decided that I'd gladly give up my car (and payment) and take the big body Benz. We did some upgrades on it since I hit a deer with it. I got two new headlights, the S600 grille, and the cladding painted to match the car. I hated that dated two tone look. I love the car. I wish it had the 5.0, but at least it is a V8. The stereo sounds so good. I love the double pane windows too. Does anyone know if the 2007 S has that?
Im 17 and my dad handed down his 97 S320 to me. I love the car but the problem is people never believe its mine. They always ask if i borrowed it from my dad for the day or if hes out of town and i took it which frustrates me. The car is amazing though. It runs like new mainly becuase it only has 39 k miles on it. Needless to say my dad didnt drive it much. The only major problem its had is the AC evaporator which I changed myself because i couldnt afford the 3,000 dollars they would charge me at a shop. It was difficult but i love working on cars so it was fun. It took me about 40 hours of work on the car and about 400 dollars including the evaporator. The process was so complicated that when a friend or a family member came over they would all say " oh my god what have you done, you might as well take it to the junk yard." I told them all i could put it back together but they didnt believe me. Well, time passed and i put it back together like new and now i have nice COLD air!
Marv554,

Good job on the evaporator job...
Were did you get your information to replace the evaporator?
Any tips you want to pass on?

My S320 is a chick magnet were I live and I am sure it is a chick magnet for you also.
