Another young S-class driver

Yes I am young and drive an S-Class. After I got my liscence I started searching for my first car. I came across an ad for a 1975 450SEL. I called up the owner and asked a few details. When I told her I was only a highschool student she immediately told me "this isn't a sportscar". I was well aware of that. I am not like normal teenagers who are obsessed with tweaking honda civics, and going for what is popular. Now the 450SEL wasn't too impressive with some rust etc.. But I wanted it. It was large, a light 1970's green, and had sluggish acceleration. But it looked as if it was mature, and was for individualists.

Sadly my dad wouldn't let me get the car. However I lucked out, and now drive the beautiful 560SEL flagship. However it is not mine. Yes it belongs to my parents, but most people don't need to know that. The 560SEL has a dark, antisocial and very mature look to it, and plus I feel far superior to those BMW drivers. I occasionally drove it to school, and had comments from teachers, including my Physics teacher who thought it wasn't fair that I drive such a nice and large car. And it was nice, as I left the school on a very hot day. I was in the sealed off in the airconditioned and silent cabin, with the automatic climate control keeping the car a perfect 19C. This was all while other students and teachers were driving their small little hondas, and baking in the heat. I also never once parked the 560SEL in the student lot, being with those inferior cars. I parked it twice in the teacer's lot, but then feared having a jealous teacher, ordering my car to be towed.

This picture is of the 560SEL in the teacher's lot, on a sunday.

YES, someone like me!

Wow, someone who shares my joy with Mercedes. I've had similar comments. Why do you want a Mercedes? BMWs are better. They're such an old person's car. But that's what I want. I like the mature, and conservative German look. My brother is one of those wanting a Mini. Yuck. But I like the space and comfort. I don't want a cute car. What I like about the W126 is it has been decribed as Anti-social. I like yours, with the dark coloured paint job. (I can't tell from the picture). I'm not one to go with what is popular. Even with my music. I don't expect other people to like my tastes, becuase they are my tastes. I don't want to conform! But I'm glad to see some mature young driver like myself. Have you read the Catcher in the Rye? The world is full of so many phoney people. And what about the ducks?

An old person's car

Yes, Cadillacs are an old persons car, but what about Buick? Have yo ever driven one of those horrible cars? I sometimes have to drive my Grandfather's 1994 Buick Lesabre, and it is absolutley a horrible car to drive. It handles like a boat, feels very unconnected from the road, and has plastic faux (FAKE) wood trim.

I wasn't very happy, when I picked up one of my friends, and he told me I was driving such an old person's car. Well I don't take his opinion seriously, as his ideal car is a BMW Z3[xx(]

Yes your car does have attitude, and looks imtimidating in a rear view mirror. Thanks for your comments about the 560SEL, and I am familiar with how powerful the 5.6L V8 is.[:D].

And to ///S320 I don't think I have ever heard some one call a Mercedes, a "Nazi-mobile". I laugh every time I read that. What I really dislike, are people's opinions about Germany. Though I am Canadian, I did live in Germany for four years, and came to love the country, and the cars they produce. It really shows someone's immaturity and lack of knowledge when all they can think about Germany is just Nazis.
