...the little metal clips that hold the head-lamp glass on? It's a fiddly job and one which, to my mind, is likely to result in chipped glass and cut fingers.

I used a normal flat-head screwdriver and gently popped the clips off. Its a very easy job. I think there were about 6 clips in total.

If they are like the ones that hold the lenses on the SEC's fog lights, then I used a small screwdriver in between the cutouts in the round hole end of the cutouts on the clips and gently pried the clips off. Replaced them with thumb pressure and UMPH!
