I know this sounds stupid but I just didn't think there was one. I remember my ex's old 190E had dim lights on the dash (for the gauges at least). Then while on Autohaus AZ's site I saw a replacement for the dimmer control for the W123. Am I losing my mind and just can't locate it or do some models simply not have one???

Thanx..........

Yes, the dimmer is the left one of the two knobs sticking out at the bottom of the instrument panel.

It fails with some frequency as the years add up.

Pushing the knob in may be required (memory fails me at this instant).

Other uses of the knobs are setting the time, and resetting the trip odometer.

Quick question: When you turn that knob how does it "feel"?

On mine it feels like it's lacking lubrication like it's really dry inside the dimmer switch itself; there's an audible screeching like you're running your fingernail across a comb on the sides of the teeth.

Sorry, can't describe it well. Just wondering if mine is different, surely it's not functioning 100% but it has a sweet spot and I just keep it there to light the instruments good enough.

Yes there are many ways to brighten the dash lights.

1. Go to Boostnbenz's site:

2. Install 5 watt bulbs.

I installed a pair of PIAA bulbs on mine, 5 watts, and brightened it up. Didn't like the yellowish glow of it that's why I went for white bulbs.

3. Change your dimmerswitch to a new one.
