I have a Instrument Cluster from a 91 300E parts car that got junked with a bent frame. I had a leftover Speedometer Gauge for a 300D and a RPM Gauge for a 300D also. I'm trying to ask would it be possible to take the Speedometer Gauge that reads 160 MPH from the 300E and swap in the 140MPH for the 300D and the RPM Gauge for the 300D on I got on hand and replace the old with the new 300D gauge? Would this even work? As far as I KNOW nothing is digital except the Fahrenheit gauge which is also in good shape. Just need to know if this would work before I go do anything.

The speedometers probably have a different rear differential ratio, so no. The diesel and gasser tachometers use a different speed signal, so no. I believe most sedan clusters are compatible with regard to the gas/temp/oil pressure gauges.

Pink,

That is one complicated statement you've put together. I don't believe the speedo swap will work. Diesel to diesel gauges should present no problem. Gas to diesel and vice versa may not work out. Furthermore, what is the point of the exercise? Is your current speedo head broken, tach not working?
