I can live with the creases and wear marks, but I'm hoping there is some way to patch the big rip on the side. I've heard that there are repair kits for this type of damage, but I haven't found anything that seems to apply.

Any ideas?

i'm sure anyone handy with thread & needle could fix that. if you want it to look presentable, i'd check with an auto upholstery shop.

i've used a cheap repair kit like this for small scratches and tears but, i'd expect this to re-open without stitching...

the "hold my beer" solution? try tenacious tape!

perhaps tenacious tape on the inside followed by the cheap repair kit? hmmm... hold my beer...

Probably no reasonable way to fix it but I do believe you can purchase 1 new seat cover just for the back of the seat at a reasonable cost and then dye the rest of you seats to match.

Here is a repair I did on a red vinyl seat back about a year ago. Isn't perfect, but it beats a three inch gash patched with duct tape. Since the seat was red and I wanted beige, I painted the seat after the repair with vinyl paint. The repair kits are supposed work on leather or vinyl, although I have never used one on leather. For a gash that big you would have to glue a vinyl or leather piece from behind to try to close the gap as close as possible. You can match the leather color and then make the repair. This is a cheap way to repair upholstery, but don't expect perfection.

This works ... place material behind it and apply filler.
Not perfect but presentable:

Here’s how I repaired my seat, and I was happy with the results. https://www.benzworld.org/threads/87-560sl-hole-in-leather-seat-repair.1481956/
