Just bought an SL500 and want to remove the casing around the internal lights next to rear view mirror. Does anyone now how to unclip this casing without breaking it.
By the way, had a lot of cars but love this ML, the 5 litre engine is supurb.

Remove the rear-view mirror by prying with a screwdriver (photo). Then remove the three screws which secure the now-exposed bracket for the mirror. Next pop out the maplights to reveal two screws. You do this by pushing up on one side of the lens and pulling down on the opposite side. Remove the screws and the entire maplight assembly is free.

Hi Bobterry I'd like to ask you if there is a way to have more light from the internal lights since the stock ones seem a little too dark.
would you suggest to use the new led style lights?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

I would like to know the answer to this one as well.

I've been trying to get all of the interior lights (speedomoter, switches, etc) to glow white/blue but I dont know what brand or even what size bulbs they are.
Any info would be appreciated.

Tech Tune, I have changed all the readily accessable bulbs in the interior to LEDs, the door foot lights and footwell lights to blue bulbs and all the small capless ones in the centre dash vent wheels and the overhead map lights to white. The best change was to LED white dials which glow blue from within when illuminated. I was not sure about the dials at first however they have totaly grown on me and are staying. I did post a pic before asking for opinions. and have since cut a small portion which was obstructing the odometer view with no bad effects. All the bulbs can be had on Ebay, the hardest ones to find are the overhead map lights which are type 233 or t4w dependant on where you live

As my car is dark blue these changes just add a subtle bit to the package>
