Having an intermitent problem with 1991 500SL. When I turn the key to start, if all dash indicator lights display, engine will start. If I turn the key and on lights come on, engines turns but will not start. I try a few times, all lights come on and engine starts. Is problem in switch or some other module??

had the same problem before, it can either be:

had the same problem before, it can either be:
- the fuse box (left rear engine side) (fuse #9)
- or the ignition housing

but I lean more toward the housing, you are going to need to change it, no way about it, the housing might not be making good contact with the tumbler, and it can't be repair, and to make things worst you need to change the two at the same time (looking around $300 for both), since they work in combination you can't just change one, that's why it is so hard to steel the SLs :)
