Both the right and the left interior sideview mirror trim is loose ( the triangle shaped piece ). They both appear to be loose on top and are being held on by just the bottom. Both can be "pulled" out almost a half of an inch.

Is anyone knowledgeable in how they are held on and what the fix may be??

This is on a 2004 SL 500.

Thanks, RC

The body shop working on my car broke that part. It seems that a little tab on the top of the triangle breaks off. If at any point your door panels have been removed then those are probably broken. You might be able to repair it in some manner, or just replace them. I think they are around $50-$70 a side.

pull it all the way off. there is a white oval plastic piece that is supposed to go in the metal opening. Put it in first then snap in the triangle. If something is broken, replace it all. d

You were right. The tab that slides into the white oval piece has snapped off. I will try to adapt something first before I order new ones.

Thanks for the info.
