Hello All,

This regards the interior leather of my 1989 300SE. I have a 3 inch hole in my left (driver’s) seat’s outer side bolster. So I’m looking to replace that. And I’m a little unsure as to what color I’m looking for. I’m pretty sure it’s 265. But I can only find 265 on one website. They have it labeled as cream beige / mushroom / quartz. But I’ve also read those names as being the same as champignon and parchment. But those seem to have different code numbers (though I’m understanding the parchment code number is for pre-1970 vehicles).

Does anyone have any clarity on what name(s) I can use when looking for used seat covers? And, are there other models / colors that I can use for source leather to redo the armrest myself? The last 6 months, W126’s seem to suddenly be super scarce where I am.

Mushroom = Champignon (French). Cream Beige is also correct. Not sure Parchment is correct. Juat have the company selling replacement seat covers to send you a leather sample to make sure.

Great! Thanks!

I’m looking at buying a single used seat cover, which is why the match is so important to me. Otherwise I’d go with red or burgundy, replace all the leather, and be done with it.

The more I repair/restore this car, the more I find myself wanting to close to original.

If the leather isn't in too bad of condition, you could always have it redyed and any minor cracks filled with flexible glue/sanded down pre-dye. Or, you could indeed get the replacement, and if it looks too mis-matched to the rest of the seat, have it redyed then.

Great suggestions!

IMO, the leather’s in good shape except for that 3” hole in the left seat left side outer bolster. I looked deeper. I’ve read of other people simply cutting a piece from somewhere else, to fit inside the hole. And leaving it as that.

...I may try to track down a local leather repair person. See what that would cost me

Guess this is your lucky day. I parted a car a few months ago and saved the passenger seat as I need a motor and gear mechanism for another project. I do not need the seat cover. The only thing you will need to do is cut a hole on the side of this skin for your arm rest. I took a quick cell pic in a dark part of my shop but it is cream beige and a bit dirty. Send me a PM if this works for you.

Looks like the upper cover will work out perfectly!
