I picked up some Sun Visors for a Mercedes sedan and want to
fit them to my SL. I need to spray paint them the color of the
interior but finding it difficult locating a supplier. Anyone recommend
an online source where the paint can be ordered from?

I have used a product made by Colorbond. You can get vinyl and leather recolor ing sprays to match pretty close to the factory colors. The customer service reps will also recommend one tone over another depending on what you are looking for. I have some beige left over from a project I intend on using to spruce up my beige leather seat covers until I decide to get them replaced.

Hope that helps.

Automotive paint supply stores should be able to help you out if you have the color code.

I bought my interior Green from a local Sherwin Williams Auto paint store. They were complete idiots.....but the product has held up well for 8 years.

So..Why not source the correct colour in the first place...Or am I missing something bleeding obvious?

Forgive me for being...what 'blase' or 'expensive' ?

@4wsboy: I recall that all the interior parts of the 107s were either molded in color or pre-dyed leather or other material. So, I don't think any "factory" replacement color guide was ever offered. Interior colors were a much smaller group back then, so matching a color in one of our cars is really pretty easy using a spray can product IMO. I think SEM and Dupli-Color are two brands that are good quality, fair price, offer a wide range of color options and are readily available at most larger auto parts stores that are geared to the general public and carry any volume of auto paint.

World is supposed to have the correct colors, but their customer service SUCKS ! Over the past few years I have requested samples three times and have never received any samples. I need some interior paint for the 380 as well. I just ordered a can of 234. Let's see how that works out ! :grin

Just ordered a can of Palomino spray according to the 82 MB code on the build sheet. I have confirmation it has been shipped, so we will see how that works out !

I also ordered from World Upholstery when I resprayed some of my interior parts and it seems to be a bit brighter than the OE, but that also may very well be just what it looked like when it was new. Either way, it looks great and seems to match my seats and other stuff just fine. Also seems to be a high quality paint/dye.

Carl should check sample colors. The color codes that MB uses for different model years, may have the same number, but colors an be different. WU just quote one number - For example 263. But they don't say what model year that code applies to. Nor do they really know, it seems. That is why even they say to get samples.

You can't buy these colors from a paint store even although WU dyes are made by SEM. They have been blended to match the original MB colors. But maybe someone has something close, if color is not unusual.

Leatherique may also have proper MB colors. But they too say to send a sample so colors can be properly matched:

Hey Dennis, Since you will be at their facility, Grab a sample of 234, which is supposed to be palomino. You might grab a color or two either direction. I might luck out, but that really isn't my style ! :grin

I meant you could still get factory visor replacements ...although a bit (somewhat) expensive..

I bought non-factory replacements using original rods ..good enough to convince the concours judges...about $80,00 each as I recall in MBTex

I guess, its 'each to his own' though re: the challenge and fun of how we address these issues .

I have used SEM in dark blue and light gray in 126 and 107 cars with excellent results. I think SEM is higher quality than mass-market brands like Dupli-Color.

The stuff from WU is made by SEM. It is a good product and covers well. Just need to clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before painting. (WU sell a cleaner, but ipa is what it was, I believe). They sell another prep product and their site is not too clear as to it's use. But I believe it was only needed when painting hard plastic surfaces. I bought both, but had no use for the second one. Best to talk to them before buying prep products.
