For some reason my interior storage compartments have stopped locking with the central locking feature, all other vacuum systems are fine.
I had the problem once before when the body shop took off a door panel and failed to reconnect the hose in there. That was a straightforward fix because I could here the pump timing out indicating a leak and guessed being after the paintwork that's where the leak would be.

This time is different there is no extended running of the pump and all other functions being ok leads me to believe there is not a leak and the pump is good.

My gut feeling is that it it may be a lose pipe in the pump itself that is failing to put vacuum in to the interior system pipe meaning there is no Vac and no leak.

I thought I would check for any more ideas before I go in that direction, also is the pump removal straight forward?

Thanks for any help

you might take a look at the interior central locking switch s85 (operated by the key next to the eyeglass and glove compartments). it signals the pump unit to either include the interior locking with external locking, leave the interior locked or open the interior locking. there are 3 wires on the switch

1. red/green 12v from fuse f20
2. grey signal line to pump unit
3. brown ground

to unlock the interior compartments the key turns the switch to put the ground on the grey signal wire. presumably any ground on the grey wire would keep the interior compartments permanently open.

pump removal is very easy.

Thanks ftr, that's info I hadn't even considered.
Knowing the interior locking vacuum is on it's own line there cant be a lot more to troubleshoot. I will post when I sort the fix out

Well I pulled the pump off and stripped it down. There were no internal hoses detached, I sprayed the board and contacts with contact cleaner and put it back together and everything worked ok. I would have liked to have seen something to fix so that I Knew it was a permanent cure. Perhaps we will meet again :)
