After driving my car everyday for 6 years or so, I really got sick of the nasty little details inside my car.
I went down to the Classic Center for the first time to get some bits for my car. This place is pretty cool - if you're in the LA area you should stop by and see it.
The following parts are for my coupe - sedans and wagons need not apply.
First off is the driver's seat plastic trim (old vs. new) :
1249192530 - wonder how much your plastic pieces fade over time?
1249291720 - this part had to come from Germany - twice! When it shipped the first time, Jon from the Classic Center called me and said it arrived broken so it needed to be reordered. It took two weeks total time to get this part - he gave me an additional discount for the hassle
Next up is 1249101118 - nasty condition. When I ordered this one, Jon ominously told me that this one is NLA :crybaby2: Coupe owners better pay attention to this next time at the junkyard.
I managed to fix it up by finding a similar part on a sedan with grey interior and fabric that is less faded. Of course being a different part, the fabric didn't fit quite the same but I made it work.
Now for the little carpet piece for the console 1246830651 - ah much nicer now! Notice the difference in the backing of the two - original has a leather backing and the new has a foam backing.
Also picked up the two piece for the hood insulation - these fit in front of the hood pad. Previous part numbers 1248000197 & 0297 now 1248891998 & 2198. Notice the old part was made of good solid rubber whereas the new is mostly plastic.
Don't wait to restore your car - it's only going to get more expensive as time passes + parts are now becoming NLA
Upcoming ... interior wood is now at Madera Concepts getting the refinishing treatment. Should be receiving it in a week or so - separate thread coming for this.
