I bought a 1986 2.3-16v a few months ago. It has been my dream car ever since I was a kid. Next winter it will be going under the knife for a much needed restoration. I have had a lot of different ideas and questions on what I want to do engine wise. Ive been doing ablot of research on the subject but can only find people trying to put a 2.3 head on a 2.5 bottom end.
Right now I am wondering if the 2.5-16v head will fit on a 2.3-16v block. If I could use the dual timing chains from the 2.5 head with some serious head work on a slightly bored and non stroked 2.3 bottom end I think I could put out an awesome and serious naturally aspirated engine. I know the turboed 2.3-16v root would probably be easier power gain wise but I am thinking of keeping it period correct. Let me know what you guys think on the matter. I know it would be a lot of work but i'm already looking at a 2-6 year project as it is. Would give me something to mess with during that time.
Thanks guys
