He obviously doesn't want to sell it.

Humidity must be high in Pennsylvania today...

Even has bullet proof glass in the description. Wonder why he didnt showcase all his emissions "improvements." Nothing like an honest seller looking for a sucker. 🤥

I though he was the biggest champion of why these cars aren't worth anything

Looking for the two front pat or M119 exhaust from the manifold collector back to the mid pipe. I am looking for the twin pipes. These are not the driver crossover to join at a y-pipe with the passenger side.

This is specific to the M119 or the W140. My model is a S420 but 500 may work as well.

Guys,

Lets have a running thread on the deals and wacky finds on Craigslist. Try not to post just a link, but upload a picture of the ad, or try screen shot of the ad if possible, so the thread lives forever as these ad's are only good for 7 days.

The R129 forum does this...

Interesting Finds on Craigslist (No personal adverts please)

it is a buyers market on these cars:

93 Mercedes s500

Yes, it is old, but it is a coupe
Hi I currently just got my hands on a 1993 S600 SEC all original 44k miles. Could this be worth some historic value ?

Not really historic value, at least not yet. Condition is all important. And early S600/600SEC cars like that had issues with engine wiring harnesses (injection, MAF, and lower body), and the breather pipe under the intake manifold. With so few miles, some or all of those issues may not have been addressed yet. And it's not an issue of if, it's when they fail. Once addressed, they are nice dependable cars. A search here will provide info on these issues. "Vsandvs" on YouTube has a bunch of videos them also.

If the car has not been exercised regularly, you are also likely to have oil leaks, as common with any older, low mileage, rarely driven cars.

We have just recently listed our 1999 MB Coupe CL500 that we are parting out. My old man was a tech for MB for 40 years, he so loved this car. If you need any body panels, interior parts, seat belts, rear seats, front seats do need to be recovered, engine, transmission, radiator and condensers. All parts are in very good condition and functional. Check out our pieces on Ebay (category Ebay Motors, seller ID betconli). Email: [email protected]

Thank you for the input Jon. I have it running and driving right now but have the asr light on and seems to be in limp mode. I’m doing a bit more testing today when I get back from work. Hoping I can get rid of this ASR problem and enjoy this 12cyl Benz!!! What do you think the value sits at for a 1993 S600 SEC in fair condition. 45k miles. I spoke to a few people and was told 10-20k.

Whats your definition of "fair condition"

Some very nice V12 (and V8) cars have brought really strong money the last 2 years, but they have either been really low mileage outliers or have been exceptionally clean and with good records.

Also has the wiring harness been done? You are already in limp mode, so what other deferred maintenance items can you think may need attention? The mileage is right, that it could be a good candidate.

A/c work?
Seat belt extenders work?
SLS rear suspension/ADS have any bad clunks

Lots of things that may be minor in the roght hands, but "fair" value with these cars still falls on the low side of everything

I overpaid $4500 for one of my S600 coupes and $2250 for the other 2-3 years ago. Both required lots of fixes. A perfect one may go for $15-20k, but I've never seen a perfect coupe. Most require $5000 or more just in parts, no labor, to bring them up to snuff. Triple that if you don't DIY.

Hello Aerosurfer, thanks for the reply. I would consider fair condition: needs a paint job, body has no dents at all. All lights on car are working. Have all original parts and accessories the car came with back in 1993. The wood trim interior in some places is cracked or peeling. The leather in the car is 9/10 condition not one crack, rip or tear. My car says 44k miles on the cluster but the speedometer or mile counter is not workin.I believe the car mileage is accurate based off the condition it is in. When I bought it, it had an oil change sticker at 46k miles. I’m not sure if the wiring harness was replaced but the wires look brand new all intact. The car was sitting for over 5 years so I changed the 2 fuel pumps, fuel filter, fuel line,12 spark plugs, and new oil change with some bottles of Techron added to the gas. Ac works. Seat extenders work,Heated seats work. All windows and and sunroof work. The car drives so nice but the power is not there because of the ASR problem. I will post some pictures soon once I get a chance to get the dust cleaned up!

Hi Jon. I agree these cars can get costly if your not doing the mechanical work yourself. The parts are crazy expensive!!
