I would not do it to mine, If there is that much CRUD in the intake, you have other problems. By using an intake cleaner you take{IMHO}a HUGE chance on damaging the Cats. What makes you think you need to clean the intake? Just curios

Drags1998 is right.

The dealers have their own products and procedures for doing this, that won't damage the cats or anything else. It isn't even that expensive, and if they DO botch something, then THEY have to pay to fix it...

So why risk possible disaster for such a small savings? I don't think it's worth it. If you want this done, get it done by the dealer, then if there's a problem it won't be on your dime.

in our other cars the butterfly thingy or whatever its called was always
covered with crap, preventing it from working properly. the gum gutter cleaned it up great. the sl is totally different in design, we haven't really
figured out how it works- refering to the round plunger thing.

according to the manufacturers website its safe:

Specialties, Cleaners, Lubricants and Tire Repair

Concentrated cleaner cleans carburetor and metal parts
Safe for use with catalytic converters & sensors

---- not that i believe everything i read

The dealer has a whole intake and fuel rail cleaning service that they do for $170 or so. Just go get it done there, then if something gets messed up they have to pay to fix it! That's my logic, anyway!
