I have a 1996 SL500 and when I brought it in for the 60,000 mile service they told me the oil pressure gauge is out and the instrument panel must be replaced for almost $2,000. I have read up on the prior posts on removing the instrument cluster and that seems very straight forward.

Now I have a few questions:
1. Where can I purchase a replacement? Dealership price is $1,220.

2. Since I will have it out does it make sense to purchase one for a newer model?

3. Or an alternative would be to add the white face gauges sold by Performance Products. Has anyone done this? Will it look good?

Your choices are dealer for new, or breakers for used..that's it :-/ I'll see what I can find for you. email me off list, I should be able to help you out quite a bit.

Thanks for the recommendation. The mechanic had an oil pressure sender in stock, so they tried that first with no luck.

That ebay link look good. The one listed is for a 1990-1994 SL, so I will email them and see if they have one for my 1996.

Does anyone have any experience with remanufactured parts? I have always gone with new from dealer, but the price sure is a heck of a lot lower!
