Instrument Cluster Lighting

I really hate the lighting of the instrument cluster on these 126's. They really should have used the backlit lighting such as the W140 and on....its amazing to look at!

Is there anyway I can change the lighting in the cluster to something like the newer ones and if not could I put in brighter bulbs or something to look more modern?[xx(]
