Are you looking for JUST keyless entry, or an alarm system? The DEI series works quite well with our cars (viper, clifford, etc).

DEI is the BEST PEROD! I have a Viper 600esp on my 300sd works better than anything I have ever put on my car, I wish everything could be as reliable as that alarm!! Remember you only get the lifetime warranty if it is installed by an authorized dealer.

i want keyless entry if it has an alarm too thats cool

can you give me a link to one of these kits?

I've got the 790xv by Viper.
To get keyless entry, you just need a solenoid. As long as you don't have any issues with your door locks / trunk / gas cap locking, if you put ONE solenoid on the drivers door, the rest should follow.

BTW, if you are able to get remote start to work on an SD, let me know what you did.

I've got issues with the tach wire.
I've tried running it "tach-less," but the car starts, and then dies withing a few seconds.

I'm also interested in this but I have a W123 with no alarm. Would you need a separate alarm and keyless entry systems? Or is there one system that has both keyless and alarm? Bergwerks only has keyless entry and it sounds like they don't have an alarm for it.

Also, would it be hard to install an alarm on vacuum-lock-equipped cars? I have no problems with the door lock vacuum system.

TIA

There are systems that offer any single or combination of feature which you so desire. I would recommend getting an alarm with keyless entry together, because it is just easier that way. I decent Viper system will probably be around 250 installed. Best Buy carries Viper, but you should always shop around. Good luck, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask us. [:D]

JR: I went to Super Auto Bacs today and checked their alarm systems w/keyless and they said their systems aren't compatible with vacuum door locks. So, what systems are compatible w/ door locks? TIA [:)]

My 300SE, obviously has vacuum door lock too. I have keyless entry, no problem. The company that makes Viper's electronics also sells a generic brand to installation shops, which my shops carry. Cost is about $135.00.

Labor on an MB. could take a couple of hours. Not a big deal. Go to a good stereo installer and tell them you want a "Concepts" keyless entry.

If you can't find one, let me know and I'll send you one.

Whose systems aren't compatible with vacuum locks?? If they told you Viper systems aren't compatible with vacuum shops, you should never go back to that shop!! No, I am serious, they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and I would not want them going anything to my car. And remember when having an alarm installed, creativity is your friend. There is no purpose to having an alarm if everbody knows where the brain is mounted! And in case you didn't know, alarm shops will install the brain under the driver side dash or driver's seat. Spend the extra money to have the brain relocated, it might not even be an extra charge. There are plently of great locations on the passengers side!! Oh yeah, many shops include installation in the price the quote you.
