Ya'll just need to go in there and LOOK...I hate to be a bit of a complainer but it's a 20 minute job to do the shift lever.. I've got it down to less then 15 having done it so many times. B/w a few screws and some clips the thing comes apart, then w/ a 15mm open end you'll get the old one loose (Can be rather stuck at times, might need some penitrating oil; Not WD40). Re-threading can be a touch of a pain, but a little paitence and it'll come. The wheel on your car is off in less then 5 minutes.. Pop the emblem, 10mm Hex on a 1/2 breaker, poof...it's off.
Because it was never designed as penetrating oil..it was made to displace water, thus the WD. Screw loose, PB blaster etc were all designed from the get go to be a penetrating oil. I gave up on WD40 5 years ago and haven't looked back once.
