For a 2007 E Class, if I want to install a new after market double din head unit, do I need to purchase a stereo interface module? Since the stock one is using fiber optic. Where can I purchase one? I heard some others say, we can't use the stock speakers, if using the after market head unit, we need to replace all the speakers and add an amp to it. Not sure if that is correct.

What size of the speakers are do we have on the 2007 w211?

Any help will be great.

I also have a Kenwood DNX 8120 head unit that does much more that Command unit that comes standard. I have ask around at various stereo shops and they don't want to touch it - 2 words FIBER OPTICS -. I would love to be able to use this head unit.
Is it even possible?

Thanks

It is a compromise anyway, your Kenwood also lacks features that come with Comand in the car. Swapping the old NTG1 to an NTG2.5 Comand would keep integration with the rest of the car along with a more modern device (differences still remain for sure).

First question, Does it have H/K premium? IF so the it is going to be a little more difficult. You will at minimum havt to have a dash kit and wiring harnes adapters, along new wiring from the head and a amp of the speakers. The stock speakers are not really that bad. It will be expensive but it can be done and keep the steering wheel controls and look really good, but you will have to be extremely careful of the shop that does it.n I only know of 1 that is qualified to do it in my state, there are a couple in Florida and some up in the Northeast.

On the otherhand, if you want Ipod and Bluetooth integration then there are both aftermarket and factory solutions for this.

He does not mention his location. It could be more or less equally difficult without HK if he had e.g. Audio 50 APS.
