Iv just bought a Merc 190E Avantgarde Rosso 1.8. Iv been told that they are rare cars, but how rare?? Does anyone know what the production numbers are for these or anything else that makes them. I know they only came in the wine colour but thats all. Im just turned 18 and this is my first merc so any info will do!!!

The Avantgarde Rosso was part of the last of the "specials" used to boost sales near the end of the W201 production. Like the Sportlines, it had a stock engine but had the sport chassis with 15 hole wheels. The model featured color matched lower body panels and mirrors in an exclusive color (the 2.3L was blue and the 2.6L was green)and the multicolor interior seating. Production was approx. 2,300 units. Of the Avantgardes, the Rosso had the biggest run, the 2.3L and the 2.6L had less than a thousand made.
