In the near future I would be interested in importing a Euro-Spec 126 into the USA. First off, is this cost effective? Are there mechanics that convert seatbelt/emissions/lights etc to US spec? or is it easy to find euro spec cars in the US. I'm mainly interested because I hate how the US de-tunes cars for sale here. Thanks.

probably not worth the cost. you might be able to get it in unchanged under the federal governments "show and display" laws, but i am not really sure how that system works, just that it exists

Good Luck!!

I'm currently doing just that...the only trick is that the car has to meet specific requirement which insure the car is of historical significance, limited production and a whole lot of other b.s. a 126 will never meet...unless the pope drove it!
