Have a 1999 SL280 Euro A/T. Have been having some random probles with my immobiliser system which became terminal today. First happened last month when car wouldnt start. Turning key resulted in engine turning over but no start. Several iterations of locking and unlocking, slamming doors etc got it working eventually. Today drove 30 mile and car would not restart after 30 mins rest. Again much locking and unlocking of doors opening / closing doors and boot, eventually got going again. Drove 10 miles and car shut down at 30 mph! No power nothing. coasted to a halt. Would not restart. Tried locking / unlocking no joy. After 30 mins of trying it worked again. Was 400 yards from MB dealer. Drove there and it died again, all power gone. Anybody experienced this before?? Too dangerous to drive in this state. Need to understand this before risking it again

Update. Car finally died at the stealership. Had them look at it day after. Car started first time and never missed a beat all day for the mechanics. 'Based on past experience' they changed CPS. Car ok so far. They say no fault codes present when they checked it. Hope its now resolved..but still that doubt is in my mind..... £190 for the part + labour
