Hi, nice to be here.
I've got a 1998 E300 turbodiesel.
It's only got 111,000 km and never seen winter.
Unfortunately I've been unable to procure a service manual from M-B so that I can tackle my own basic maintenance.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Andrew

Stick around here for a while. Almost everything you can do to your car has been done by members and they even show photos how to do it. Check out the stickies and if you can't find it there, do a search. If nothing pops up, someone around here will know how to do it right.

Greetings from Montana Territory!

maintenance schedule

Thanks for the welcome.

I'd like to get a maintenance schedule so I can at least figure out what my e300TD needs. I know it's due for type B service, but don't even know what that includes!

I also need to change the brake fluid (been three years), and possibly the transmission fluid?

I'm very frustrated right now as I do my own maintenance on my Honda, and have a service manual that explains everything in detail.

However, my local dealership is more like the CIA when it comes to information sharing, and they won't even sell me a service manual! Really?

I've never even heard of that before.

MB makes a service manual in DVD format. Try calling the MB Classic Center in California. The A and B service steps have been posted on here several times and a search should find them. They should have been added to the sticky threads but I don't believe they ever were. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome to the forum.
1998 models FSS doesn't differ between schedule scope. It shows you the intervals, but you need to keep records what scope was done before.
I cold copy my manual if you really want it on paper, but beside normal fluid, safety check just make sure your fuel lines are holding and you have no air in them.
Enjoy the car and congratulation on buying one of the best models on Earth.

Mercedes is currently redoing the service DVD for what I understand.

Any Mercedes dealer ought to be able to get you both an owners manual and a maintenance manual. As was said above, a search ought to bring up the A/B service items. I think I've got it in a pdf if you need it. Send me a private message at len"at"sokoloff"dot"com

I have so far replaced my glow plugs, done about 4 oil and filter changes.
Anti roll-bar drop links, repaired my alarm, replaced the accessory belt tensioner and dampener.
Replaced the alternator and battery, fitted an A.B.S. reluctor ring to the right rear wheel hub which cured a ABS/ASR/BAS problem.
