I have no spark so I opened the module and examined the board under a microscope. I could smell a burnt odor and a component (probably a resister ) looks "cooked". The photos show a pencil pointing to the suspect part. It is covered with a heat insulating sleeve. I slid the sleeve to one side to reveal a No "082 1061"...The module is from a 380 se 1983 and has a Bosch No 0 227 100 042/ Mercedes No 002 545 26 32. printed on the aluminium cover..Any thoughts, suggestions as to my chances of getting a new component and soldering it to the board.
Thanks Modem.

the resistor is probably a generic item, get one that is the same size and stripe code (indicates wattage and resistance). I remember reading somewhere it's possible to fit an aftermarket MSD system to the gassers, anybody?

I should have another one of those ICUs laying around. Let me know if you're interested.

I just buy the ICU's off Ebay. So CAL Mercedes Parts often sells them and they test them so they are good when you get them. They're a bit more pricey, but I have yet to have one of their components fail.
