Ignition replacement

The electronic portion of my ignition is bad. No response when you turn the key to the start position. Everything else functions as it should. From what I have read it is pretty serious surgery. Any ideas?

thanks

what happens when you turn the key to the first or second position? all you need to so is remove the cluster and reach back there and unplug it and unscrew the ele part of teh switch with a flathead bit. to get the switch unplugged the key needs to be in an in kp1

The key in the 1st and 2nd position function normally. Everything lights up as normal and you turn the key to start and nothing. Not a click nothing. Can you get the electronic portion out without having to pull the steering wheel? Do you have to remove the lock cylinder to get the electronic part out? Thanks for everyones help!

Ignition replacement

So the car is in storage for 9 months out of the year- it does not do snow etc.
I got the car out last spring and had a new timevalve exhaust put on it did a major spring annual service and drove it home. Stopped maybe 3 times on the way. I back it down the driveway and turn it off. Open garage door and go to start the car and nothing. Could the starter just quit, like that? Any way to test it? Thanks guys- as a new member I appreciate the help!

if its been in storage i would suspect a dead battery. try jump starting it first.

what i woud do first is get a wrench and connect positive terminals at the starter, this will bypass the ignition swich and relay. if its good than look for something else!
