1993 500SEL ASR light and "limp home mode" problems increased in frequency.
I have checked voltage, battery, cleaned wheel sensors and replaced the brake switch. After replacing the brake switch I did not get an ASR light for more than a week. I got the ASR light this morning and now want to replace the idle speed contact switch on the gas pedal.
Can anyone give me the step-by-step procedure to replace the switch on the pedal?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I suggest you purchase a subscription to Alldatadiy.com. For $24.95 the first year, and $14.95 for additional years, you can find a lot of information for your vehicle. I have a subscription for my 95 S600, and so far, most everything I need has been there. The nice thing is you have immediate access once you're signed up. With respect to your ASR problem, you need to read the info in this link...

You may find it helpful. Lots of luck, and let us know what turns up.

Thanks for the info and link. My ASR problems only appear on cold start(lately about 20 degrees F). It has never happened when warm.
I will subscribe as you suggested and I will keep you advised of the results of the switch replacement.

You may want to check the wiring in your MAF's and Throttle Actuators too. I just finished rewiring mine. Shorts in the wiring could be causing your troubles. See this link...
