does anyone know where the engine number is supposed to be?

i have looked briefly, but have´nt seen anything ..

the strange thing about it is that it has two carburators, and all info i can find on the internet and in the manual covers single carbs.
it´s two Zenith 32 NDIX carbs, so i guess that it isnt
a swap from a regular Mercedes car ..

i have seen some carb syncro tools on some site´s for
Unimog 404, so guess that two carbs is an option, but
what about the rest of the engine? more air and fuel
does´nt make anyone happier, if the engine cant consume it .. athe registration papers for my car says that it has the standard 82 or 85 hp ...

thanx in advance!

on the block it says 130-922-10-000054 ...
that would make it M130 engine right?

on the cylinder head its cast "280", and then some letters,
like: S/N .. something ... what does that stand for?

is the serial number supposed to be the same on the engine and the chassie?

thanks!

well, it´s nice to be "fooled" in a positive way
for a change ... usually it´s something bad when
you discover something odd about a veichle ..

i thought there was a little more "go" in the mog
than i had expected, i have 80 hp in my daily driver,
which weigh 1500 kilos, and the mog is about 3 tons,
but the other cars does´nt feel much faster ...

engine number chassis number are different.

M130 = 2.8 liter engine. the 280 on the head means 2.8liter enginehead. The letters S/N maybe indicates wich type of compression?

the second digits, 922, i dont know for sure... a 130-920-.... delivers 140Hp
130-923-.... delivers 160Hp
(in a person car with the original hardware)

if you have a stock M130 unimog404 engine it must be a 120Hp engine i believe.

volksmog <- thanks!!! ... the previous owner of my Mog thought that it was really slow, no power at all ..
he drove a newer car though ... i drive an older car (1970 Volvo 140) and thought (the little i got to drive it) that it was´nt as bad as everyone said it would be ... not enough acceleration to scare anyone, but there´s more than enough for me! [:p]

graphics66 <- according to that list;
W108 > 280S 68-71 108.016 130.92
is what my engine comes from. [:(]

which must mean that someone has changed the engine
somewhere along the way ..

thanks for the link!
