Is it possible to identify a 190 Evo I or Evo II by the VIN or engine number?

I am trying to verify that an Evo I is the real thing.

Yes, the modified 2.5-16 engines have unique three digits after the 102 prefix. Would the Evo I be in Croatia, by any chance?

Close, but this car is in Japan

It appears to be a fake anyway, the engine no starts with 102990 and I believe the Evo II is 102992, so am guessing the Evo I would be 102991? This car seems to have started life as an auto and had a major conversion to a manual Evo I replica

If you look at the shift knob it will say the the number out of 500 for the evo2 not sure about the evo1

The Evolution (I and II) chassis prefix is 201.036

The Sport Evolution 2.5-16 motor is 102.991, the Evolution II is 102.992

A 102.990 is the stock 2.5-16

The shifter on the Sport Evolution was not serialized.
