I have a 2002 AMG 32 and love it! BUT....I miss driving a powerful car with a manual transmission. Dont get me wrong.. this is an amazing car but I want to shift.

I think I'm interested in getting an R171 350 with a 6speed and then having someone (Kleemann, Carlsson, Brabus, Renntech, etc) supercharge and tweak her. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of this. Has anyone done one and what were results like????

I know what you mean, there are lots of members that didnt get the 55 AMG due to the 7 speed auto.

Btw, The Supercharger costs alot and gets you 380hp. You can get it through Art Tunning.

Yes, several members thought about it (me being one of them), there are couple of recent treads on it. There are two german companies that has it right now. ART is one mentioned and it'll cost over $32,000, insane pricing IMHO. Can't remember the other German company but SC and installation cost over $20,000 USD. Kleemann has not released one yet but you are looking at $18,000 installed, that's the quote my dealer gave me and they are an authorized Kleemann dealer. Carlsson and other's only have bolt-on performance parts, that'll give you over 300bhp. Not worth getting it SC unless you absolutely must have it. IMO. Just get a SLK55, much, much better deal.

Yes I agree with Ynot there.

It costs so much for a SC for the 350, and for what u are paying u can have so much more car for you money.

However, as you say, if you want a manual, then you have to stick with the 350, but are you willing to pay something stupid like $32k for a super charger from the likes of ART?

The 350 will be a nice step up from your R170 and you may not even want/need a SC

In the real world, no need to spend that kind of money to enjoy ANY car. Personally, no need for ANY performance mods to enjoy the SLK 350.
