I- Pod conversion kit for pre-2005 cars with Command?

OK, regarding the feature article on the homepage about the conversion kits that will be available for the I-POd-Command integration, beginning in June in Europe and I assume US thereafter - do these kits only work with models built after some specific date or are they intended to allow retrofit into say a model year 320 E with Command? THe article is vague on this point.
