Guys, want to know if there are any of u who are, or know smoene who is selling a 300 TD in the general area of Florida. Reason being, i obtained a 240 d with a blwon motor, but the body is in near perfect shape minus the surface rust in the trunk behind the right wheel well. Guys this car is sweet, an deserves something a bit faster than a 240 :-D Lemmie know of any places on the net maybe i could search or if u have some personal about this<br> <br> thanks <br> <br> charlie

do you want to put the 3.0 l diesel into a 240 chassis?the conversion is not a easy one and if you have never worked on a mb these are not the cars to learn on. the td engine is a 3.0l5 cyl turbo and the 240 is a 4 cyl 2.4l non turbo and the td has a active rear leveling system and isnot a option on the 240, my advice, get a used 240 engine , in stall it and sell it and buy a td or cd or d it would be easer if the 3.0 was swapped out for another 3.0. goodluck

I think you are looking for a turbo version of the 617 engine- not a 300 TD. The 300 TD is the W123 wagon version which came with the non turbo in 79 and 80, the turbo version in 81-85. Non USA version were sold of the 240TD- the wagon with the 4 cylinder. Installing the non turbo 5 cylinder in a W123-240 is not complex, not much more complex than a R&R of the 4 cylinder. A well running 5 cylinder non turbo is quite quick compared to the 4.
