Met some visiting friends from Wisconsin for lunch on the square in Sonoma,
a 25 min. drive on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I took my raggedy-ass
2002 Windstar because it was too much trouble to move my Wife's car, uncover the Merc, remove the trickle charger, put the top down, back it out and put her's back. Not a good sign.

Am there, do that.

I know what you mean. The cars that you want to drive in good weather are in the garage and it always takes some effort to get them out and back in. And the manual top doesn't help.

Gotta love the 129 cars - they can sit outside, and the top goes down in 15 seconds.

I thought I was the only person who's garaged cars are too much of a hassle to get out and drive.

A huge problem with having too many cars and too much crap is that the crap and other cars get in the way.

I almost always use my Honda's for every utility trip. The MB cars have become the projects that I simply enjoy making better. I don't see anything wrong with it. I do have a goal of making every car easy to get out and drive though.

Why bother with a car cover when the car is in the garage? Any dust that gets on it should blow off as soon as you hit the road.

We could call you a lazy prick but that's a bit harsh amongst friends. Perhaps just a tad too "relaxed" ? It's a feeling I find myself succumbing to more often these days.

Probably time to face the reality that for me, the journey of getting the car redone was more fun than getting to the destination. Might be time to sell and start again. Lots of things I would do differently.

I have to agree with this. I think we all enjoy the journey. Otherwise, we wouldn't do it.

I feel bad for guys that don't enjoy working on the cars, because, well... Pretty much all of these cars all need work. They are more fun to bask in the glory of bringing them back from the dead than they are for utilitarian transportation.

If you think about it, I'll bet you'll find that the prospect of uncovering and recovering the car was the biggest detriment to its use followed by the trickle charger. Forget both items and your use of the car will increase.

You have to change your mode of transport. I have a 2013 pickup for wet, cold days, and 2 ea 280sl for everything else. maggie lass has her auto trans out on the bench, so i m using sweetcheeks ( my daily driver). She aint always clean, but the keys are always in the ignition in the carport. Matter of fact she failed on me this past wed. I had to go to Lowes 28 miles from home to pick up some odds and ends for my new chicken coop, and when i tirned the key, she only grunted. Got the jump charger out of the trunk, fired her up and drove home. Got home put the charger on and when i went to clise the shop doors for the night she only spun slowly over. Left charger on all nite, and only 9.47 volts next morning. Pulled the battery out and swapped in the new one from Maggie. Went to town today for grandsons birthday, and bought a new battery for Maggie. Sweetcheeks can keep the one that started her engine this morning. Only time she has failed me sine i bought her in 2011. I aint complaining!

I must dissent some. Yes, that drive the evening I finally got die Rostlaube back together and roadworthy was definitely worth it. Even so, I still enjoy driving it more than I enjoy tinkering on it. I did go in knowing full ell I was going to have to wrench on it myself and prepared to do so, but fun...? Learning is fun. Working on it just to be working on it, not so much.

I can't wait until the weather is good enough to drive it top down every day. Meanwhile, I am driving it with a lid on.

If you are not excited to drive your R107, you might need to see your doc for depression.

Not an option, my garage faces West where 90% of our wind and fog comes from. Wife opens the door 2-3 times a day to use her car. It would be filthy inside and out in a week if not covered.

Frosch is living in the garage while I gather the pennies to fix the misfire and crap running situation. I am socking away spare parts for the indy to use in case it be Trigger points, MAP sensor, or ECU. Those are the likely culprits. In the meantime I am playing with a w115 300D that is blocking the driveway because the PO had the trans adjusted without the shift bushings installed. It does not move until that gets fixed
