Okay Guys,
I just freak'n cleaned my tires 3 days ago!
The one thing I hate about this car is that the tires get filthy in no time!
Is there any product out there that can keep my wheels clean for a long period of time?

Its so annoying! I have such beautiful rims, but the beauty only last for a few days!

get rid of OEM brake pads

a lot of the aftermarket ones don't do that.

I put Wagner Thermoquiets on the front and the fronts are cleaner than the rears (w/ OEMs) now. Porterfields are also supposed to be good, but some folks have had squeal problems w/ both and the OEM ones...

The only thing that I have found that helps is to clean your tires and wheel with something that leaves a residue layer on the wheel...like overspray from "tire black" or a similar product.

That way the brake dust rinses off without much hassle.

Before this blog goes into heavenly bliss,
is there any way to keep the scum off while driving normally?
Or is the only alternative buying new sets of rims...
You don’t need new rims- just new brake pads! The high-carbon content of OEM MBZ pads causes the black film. It’s also not just an ML thing – look at any late-model MBZ and you’re likely to see “blackened wheels. It does wash off easily, and you may find that putting a coat of wax on the wheels will help, too.

So far i have tried various sprays that claim to not let brake dust stick to the rims and they really dont work that well. The best thing to do is wax the rims but that takes a lot of time, so for a fix until i get new pads i just wash my rims every week.

Ditto Rudeney and Kenyee. Replace your pads with aftermarket pads as suggested. I used Raybestos but the wagner thermo quiets are probably just as good. Ever since I took off the OEM's and replaced with Raybestos, dusting problem is gone. Like your S-Class wheel centers, BTW.

I did the same thing. I got the Raybestos Quite Plus. Put them on the front, for about a year, before I replaced the rear ones. There was a big difference. They are cleaner and there is no squeaking whatsoever. I bought the parts from a local parts store and found a garage to put them one. The brakes pads were about $70.00 a set and paid $45 to turn the rotors and install the pads. A REALLLLLLY big savings compared to the dealer. Now my wheels stay clearer much longer and the stopping has improved also. Now, if only I could do something about the mushy brake pedal. [:(!]

I have brake pads and i wax the wheels. In one month of no cleaning over the winter, my wheels barely looked dirty, they only lost their luster.
